Comparison

Sentry alternatives: 9 error tracking tools for small teams, compared

For a small team leaving Sentry, the closest alternatives are GlitchTip and Bugsink: both accept Sentry's SDKs and can be self-hosted or hosted in the EU. Honeybadger, Rollbar and BugSnag are hosted error trackers with their own SDKs and free tiers. AppSignal and PostHog add error tracking to performance monitoring and product analytics. ErrorHub, our product, tracks errors only, over one HTTP API, for a flat €9 a month excl. VAT. Which fits depends on your SDKs, scope and billing.

How we compared these Sentry alternatives

ErrorHub is our product, and it is in this list. Every tool, ErrorHub included, is described with the same six facts:

  • the entry paid plan, in the vendor's currency and with tax as the vendor states it;
  • the free tier, if any;
  • the billing unit: what you pay more for as volume grows;
  • where hosted data is kept, and whether you can self-host;
  • how errors get in: an SDK or an HTTP API;
  • what the tool does beyond errors.

Each competitor fact comes from the vendor's own pricing page or docs, read on 11 October 2026 and linked under Sources. Where a page does not state a fact, we say so. We chose the tools AI assistants and comparison articles name most often. The list is alphabetical, not a ranking, and no vendor paid to be in it. Names are trademarks of their owners.

Prices checked on 11 October 2026, in each vendor's currency. On tax: AppSignal adds VAT for EU customers, ErrorHub's price excludes VAT, PostHog's prices exclude taxes, and the other pages do not say.

AppSignal: APM with error tracking, billed by requests

AppSignal is a performance monitoring (APM) tool with error tracking built in. It bills by requests and background jobs, however many errors they raise. Its paid plan is €219 a year billed yearly (€18.25 a month) for 250K requests a month; the free plan covers 30K requests, 1 GB of logs and 5 days of retention. AppSignal says it does not charge overages or stop monitoring when you go over. Data is kept in the Netherlands.

Suits: teams that want errors and performance in one tool, billed independently of error volume.

Bugsink: Sentry-compatible error tracking, self-hosted or hosted in the EU

Bugsink tracks errors only and accepts events from Sentry's SDKs: you change the DSN the existing SDK sends to. Self-hosting is free. The hosted service runs in the EU and is priced by monthly events: free for 15K events and one user, then €16 a month for 75K events with unlimited users, up to €158 for 3M. Its page does not say whether VAT is included. Alerts go to Slack, Discord, email or webhooks.

Suits: teams that want to keep Sentry's SDKs and pay less, or run the server themselves.

BugSnag: error and performance monitoring for mobile, web and server apps

BugSnag, from SmartBear, covers errors and performance on more than 50 platforms, mobile included, with symbolicated stacks (source maps, dSYMs, ProGuard), breadcrumbs and release stability scores. The free plan has one user, 7,500 events and 1M spans a month, with 7 days of retention. Paid plans are sold in event tiers (Select from 50K events a month, 60 days of retention) plus span packs; the calculator on its pricing page shows each tier's price. On-premises is part of Enterprise.

Suits: teams with mobile apps that track release stability and want errors and performance from one vendor.

ErrorHub: error tracking over one HTTP API at a flat price

ErrorHub is our product. It tracks errors only: each app sends one HTTPS POST per error, with no SDK, and ErrorHub groups duplicates into issues, keeps every project in one inbox and sends a web push alert when an error is new or returns. One plan costs €9 a month excluding VAT, with unlimited error events, projects and users and 30 days of history, after a 7-day trial that needs a card. Data is stored on Hetzner servers in Germany.

Suits: founders and small teams running several apps in different languages who want one inbox and a bill that does not grow with errors.

Not for: teams that need a free plan, self-hosting, session replay, tracing, logs, source maps, Slack or email alerts, an MCP server or SAML single sign-on. Stack-frame grouping is tuned for .NET and JavaScript; other languages group by exception type and message. ErrorHub is new and has no independent reviews yet.

GlitchTip: open-source, Sentry-compatible, hosted in the US or Germany

GlitchTip, from Burke Software and Consulting, is open source and accepts events from Sentry's client SDKs. Run it yourself or use the hosted service in the US or the EU (Germany). Hosted plans count events, and uptime checks, performance transactions and megabytes of release files count as events too. Free covers 1,000 events a month; Small is $15 a month for 100K. Over the quota, GlitchTip throttles gradually and blocks at twice the quota. It also does uptime monitoring, performance monitoring and logs.

Suits: teams that want Sentry's SDKs, a low hosted price or self-hosting, and EU hosting.

Honeybadger: errors, uptime, cron check-ins, logs and status pages

Honeybadger combines error tracking with logs and performance (Insights), uptime monitoring, cron check-ins and status pages. The free Developer plan has one user, 5,000 errors a month and 15 days of error retention. Team costs $26 a month, or $286 a year, for 50K errors, unlimited users and 90 days of retention. Over the quota it processes up to 125%, then stops until the month ends, unless you turn on overage billing ($0.0003 per notification on Team). Data stays in the US, or in AWS Frankfurt with a separate EU account. Errors arrive through client libraries or an HTTP API.

Suits: small teams that want errors, uptime checks and a status page in one tool.

PostHog error tracking: exceptions next to product analytics and session replay

PostHog is a product analytics platform, and error tracking is one of its products: each issue links to the affected user's session replay and events. The first 100K exceptions a month are free. Above that you pay per exception, from $0.00037 between 100K and 325K, in US dollars excluding taxes. PostHog Cloud runs in the US or the EU (Frankfurt); an MIT-licensed edition can be self-hosted, which PostHog calls officially unsupported. Exceptions come in through PostHog's SDKs, with source map upload.

Suits: teams already on PostHog that want errors next to their analytics and replays.

Rollbar: error tracking priced by occurrences, from $9 a month

Rollbar tracks errors, counted as occurrences, and adds session replay. The free plan has 5,000 occurrences and 1,000 replays a month with 30 days of retention. Essentials starts at $9 a month for 10K occurrences ($7.50 billed annually), with 90 days of retention, and rises in steps with volume ($49 a month for 100K). By default Rollbar stops at the plan limit; you can allow on-demand events or set a dollar budget. Users and projects are unlimited. Errors arrive through SDKs or an HTTP API. Its GDPR page lists the USA as the processing location.

Suits: teams that want a hosted error tracker with a free tier and small price steps.

Sentry: error tracking inside a broader monitoring platform

Next to error monitoring, Sentry sells tracing, session replay, profiling, logs, metrics, cron and uptime monitoring, the Seer AI debugging agent and a hosted MCP server. The free Developer plan covers one user and 5K errors a month. Team costs $26 a month billed annually, or $29 monthly, for 50K errors, unlimited users and up to 90 days of lookback; extra errors cost from $0.0003625 each. Storage is in the US (Iowa) or the EU (Frankfurt), and Sentry can be self-hosted under the Functional Source License.

Suits: teams that use several of its products. For error tracking alone, see ErrorHub vs Sentry.

FAQ: Sentry alternatives

Which Sentry alternatives work with Sentry's SDKs?

GlitchTip and Bugsink accept events from Sentry's open-source SDKs, so switching means changing the address the SDK sends to, and both can be self-hosted. The other tools here document their own SDKs, agents or HTTP APIs.

Which Sentry alternatives can be self-hosted?

Bugsink and GlitchTip, for free. PostHog has an MIT-licensed edition that it calls officially unsupported, BugSnag offers on-premises on its Enterprise plan, and Honeybadger offers self-hosting on request. Sentry can be self-hosted under the Functional Source License. ErrorHub is hosted only.

Which error tracking tools keep data in the EU?

Bugsink's hosted service runs in the EU and GlitchTip has an EU instance in Germany. AppSignal keeps data in the Netherlands. Honeybadger, PostHog and Sentry offer EU storage in Frankfurt. ErrorHub stores data on Hetzner servers in Germany. Rollbar's GDPR page lists the USA, and BugSnag's pricing page does not say.

Is ErrorHub cheaper than these Sentry alternatives?

It depends on your volume. ErrorHub has one plan, €9 a month excluding VAT, with unlimited error events, projects and users, after a 7-day trial that needs a card; there is no free plan. Most tools here have a free tier and charge by events, requests or exceptions, so a low-volume app can cost nothing elsewhere, while ErrorHub's price stays the same at any volume.
